Hi everybody! Well, let's start with the basics... My name is Jessica, but I've been "Jessi" since I can remember, and I am 18 years old. I was born in Monterey, California but I moved to a city called Redwood City, California when I was just barely 4. Most people have never heard of Redwood City, but it's about a 25-30 minutes drive south of San Francisco, California. When I get back from Cambodia I'm hoping to move to SF permanently.
I just graduated from my local high school this past June, and I'm so excited to see what else God has for my future. Like i said before, I am hoping to move to San Francisco permanently when I get home, and I really want to attend the city college and get my Associate's in pastry and resturaunt management. Baking is my passion and so is human trafficking, so one day I hope to combine the two. I want to eventually open my own bakery and employ these women who are getting out of an aftercare shelter or program just to give them some work experience and get them back into the work force while making a good salary and learning to adjust to life on their own.
My family is not something I'll talk about too often, as it is something I'M still trying to make sense of. I do have two little sisters I love more than anything else on this Earth (although, I might be a little slow to tell them that sometimes). Heather is 15 (and we are pretty close) and then we have Megan who is 12. I live with both my sisters and my dad, but my mom lives close by for now and I see her almost everyday.
I love to read (my dream house has a library in it) and I'm constantly bugging my dad for more books ;) I also started my own non-profit (with some major help from my dad) after a Mexico missions trip with my high school church group in the spring of my junior year. It's called Brokenness to Beauty and we take girls who have been abused or through some trauma out on a shoping spree or to the spa because every girl deserves to feel pretty. Right now we are at a bit of a stand-still while we wait for full non-profit status, but I hope we will be all good to go when I get home from Cambodia.
Fun Fact Time! :)
1) I have a tattoo of a butterfly on my left shoulder blade, and that's just the begining of my body art obsession :) (it will eventually be a full back piece)
2) I'm somewhat of an introvert, but I love to be around people.
3) My kitten is my baby, and she has been ever since I got her when she was just 2 months old (she'll be a year old in October). I never thought I'd own a cat, and I never thought I'd own such a nutball of a cat. I'll miss her very much while I'm gone.
4) My favorite color is pink, but I'm far from your average girly girl :) (my close friends refer to me as their "bad-ass Disney princess")
5) I LOVE to laugh. I'm always the one giggling at nothing :)
